Went in to exchange items which I had a receipt for some not all. They got a managers approval and gave me a store card for credit.

I waited a couple of days for the tax free weekend to use, when I went to pay they had cancelled my card. All they can tell me was in the system it said account closed. I tried calling but they where closed they told me to call back Monday. The manager was no help all he can tell me was "call the number on back of the card".

Its been a week and they have not called me back when I call they tell me we r searching for items returned until we find them we can not credit back the card.. I need help please what should I do

Monetary Loss: $290.

$532 cancelled I battled them for months involving police and to no avail Im out and as far as I can tell that's it!

This seems to be their new policy. I have literally been dealing with this same issue for over three weeks for a return with receipt of items purchased with gift card originally.

The amount was just over 200.00. When I went to use it their was an error that the store had never seen I've called Customer care and given the same spill about researching and will call back.

Now their online systems are down for over weeks. The direct line provided by the agent is never answered This is absolutely unacceptable and Needs to be addressed because everyone I've talked to claims Academy is notorious for canceling gift cards and wiping them after you leave the store.

Same i when to buy a Sig 380 or $500 my gift card was 47 I know I would have had to pay more and I go through the line and they tell me my card is not valid and gave me a little white piece of paper I had to call I can't afford my lawyer but dude I might die I'm disabled I just need to go ahead and file discrimination charges on them and sue them if you'd like to jump in with me

We should all file a law suit. They jipped me for 415 bucks and I returned items WITH a receipt and I paid cash but decided to take a store credit so I wouldn't spend the money on something else. Went to spend the gift card today and not a *** thing on the card...Said account closed....wtf!!!!

They are notorious for this. After talking to the F.B.I they said they have a pending investigation.

To anyone this has happened to, I urge you to call your local FBI Office!!! That is the only way they can stop stealing from their customers.

I have the exact same issue as you. I returned two items on August 5th for which I was given a merchandise credit and went to the store on Monday to try and use it and the manager was no help to me either, just call the number on the back of the card he said.

I called them and was given the exact same answer. I'm extremely frustrated!! I feel like they tricked me, they took the items I purchased and gave me a store credit only to turn around and close the account. I want my items back or they need to give me store credit for them.

It's absolutely ridiculous! They have the merchandise I returned and now they don't want to compensate me for them, it's not right what they are doing.

they did the same *** thing to me with a $242 card. i swear i will never shop there again and i tell my friends not to either. they don't honor their word theyre no better than *** artists!

Academy WILL ALWAYS CANCEL MERCHANDISE CARDS within 24 hours. I worked there and because merchandise cards usually means there is no receipt and the items could have been stolen- they always always cancel them. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about it.

This is happening to me know. 290.00 merchandise card.

They cancelled it. I notified ther LP people and they looked into it. They asked how did I pay for it. I told them some times cash and sometimes a debit card.

I told her I didn't purchase these items at one time, I acutually went there 3 or 4 times. She asked I used a credit card I told her no I don't believe in using credit cards because why pay an extra 23 percent when I make enough money to buy. She then called back and said she checked the 2 stores that I visit and there were only a few items that were bought on a credit card. I told her I may have used my debit card on a purchase or two and then she says I thought u said you don't use a credit card.

WTF I did tell her that but I do use a debit card which is 2 different things. *** ***.

Anyway my suggestion is to bug the *** out of them. And post ur complaint on Face book or any other social web site.

The return policy clearly says if can't verify purchase you'll get a merchandise card.

Academy canceled my gift card balance by closing the gift card account. They said it was a "security issue".

I hope someone sues these bastards. I'm in Corpus Christi, TX
